Lace® Music Products will be presenting a display of the iconic Cigar Box Guitar at the Winter NAMM 2018 show in Anaheim, California, built by some of the best luthiers thru out the United States.
Lace® Music in conjunction with Steve Avery, the founder of the American Cigar Box Association™, Avery has selected 12 of the top builders of this American original in the country for this special display. The selection process for the selected luthiers included originality, craftsmanship and presentation.
All entries were fitted with all new Lace® Matchbook™ pickup, which was specifically designed for the Cigar Box guitar player in mind. Resembling an actual Matchbook™, in size and weight, this lightweight patented "current driven" designed Lace pickup is a compliment to the unique style of the guitar in both looks and tone.
Traditional build Cigar Box guitars use an actual cigar box in wood or cardboard combined with a thru neck that has 2 to 6 strings. The tradition of the cigar box guitar dates back over 100 years. Easy to play and build, the Cigar Box guitar is seeing increased interest both from players and builders worldwide.
"Lace has seen an increase in popularity and outstanding creative designs with the cigar box guitar by these builders that introducing a high quality pickup to match the quality of the guitars was a natural" stated Don Lace. "Many retailers and players have already begun stocking Matchbooks™ and Cigar Box guitar related products in general, revealing a greater interest in the Cigar Box guitar due to its Americana flavor and its ease of playability" further stated Lace.
Several Cigar Box guitar players including Lace endorser Travis Bowlin, will be playing in the booth thru out the 2018 Winter NAMM show. The Lace staff along with Steve Arvey of the American Cigar Box Association™ will be on hand to answer questions about these one of a kind guitars and the builders themselves. This unique first ever display of Cigar Box Guitars at NAMM will be at the Lace booth #4002 Hall D.
